Recently, Malaysia is hit by many cases of dengue and chikungunya and shows no signs of improvement from the deteriorating situation across the country.
At home in Penang, I realise there are thousands of mosquitos flying left right centre when the sky darkens. Despite my effort to kill them in between my palms, I only manage to activate my pain receptors in return. Even mosquito repellents have limited effects on them.
Needless to say, I suffer from many mosquitos bites all over my extremities, which proves to be a nuisance for the itchiness and swelling caused.
Our health minister has not spoken much to fight against Aedes mosquitos as they are the sole vector in spreading the abovementioned diseases.
Channelnewsasia.com has reported that our country is currently facing the worst dengue outbreak in recent times.
It has been reported that residents do not allow the authorities to perform fogging activities in their premises. However, no fogging activities have been carried out so far in my area unlike previous years where relevant authorities will dispatch people to carry out fogging activities to eradicate those bloody mosquitos.
It is unacceptable for the dengue and chikungunya cases to escalate for a prolonged period of time. Swift action must be taken to halt the problem from taking a turn for the worse.
Prevention is better than cure. The Malaysian citizens must be reminded of the responsibilities they have in helping to curb this outbreak. Let's not allow those mozzies to reduce our productivity and our competitiveness at such critical time when the country needs everybody's effort to revive its ailing economy.

I don't understand why people wouldn't allow fogging. Aren't they concerned about their own health let alone their children's? New motto needed now, I say: Fog or Get Flogged!
PS: I think you'd make a splendid health minister. All hail Ji Keon!
